an alternative to the effaclar duo?

Avéne Cleanance Expert Emulsion* might just be the new Effaclar Duo! This 40ml tube by Avéne is now a part of my daily skincare and I think it may be making a permanent resident of my makeup drawe! As many of you will know I suffer from what I guess you can now call, Adult Acne. No longer am I a spotty teenager.. I'm a spotty adult. Whilst I do heat fairly healthy most of the time I do admit that I should probably drink more greens and make sure I'm getting my 5 a day! Regardless of this the acne is a stubborn beast. This is where my much loved skincare routine comes in, and this new beauty!

The Cleanance Expert claims to treat adult acne (yay) and be a unique daily treatment that renews and mattifies skin (double yay) More than just a moisturiser, the Cleanance Expert regulates the production of sebum with Monolaurin, which reduces sebum by 33%! Sebum is that nasty yellow stuff in spots, gross I know! And that with continued use the Cleanance Expert outsmarts acne to leave skin smooth, clear and matte. Oil-free, the hydrating cream is an excellent make-up base and is suitable for use alongside topical acne medicines.

All checks on my skincare list! The main thing I really like about this is the texture, it's creamy and feels moisturising where the Effaclar Duo has more of a thin, gel like feel that rubs away into the skin this sinks in and feels like step one of your skincare. I use this before moisturiser in the morning, and mixed with my Effaclar Duo in the evening!

Having used it for just over a week I have seen sigificant difference to the texture of my skin and I haven't had many new flare ups either (touch wood) As an alternative to the Duo I would totally rate this 5/5 and they both range is the £15 mark! Let me know if you have used anything from Avéne and if I should check anything else out!

  1. I really like this BB cream, I have the same one & I think the consistency is great. However the product always oxidises after about 20 minutes - I know you've said you would feel that it suits all skin types but it just doesn't work with mine which is such a shame!
