summer beauty essentials | boots

After shelling out the big bucks for a week away in the glorious sunshine, the last thing you want to do is spend another fortune on those summertime beauty essentials! Gone are the days of childhood where the only thing you bothered with was copious amounts of sun cream (usually slathered on by mum) or face paint (I was always a bunny, think fake teeth painted on my chin) down at the kids club!

Case and Point!
After having my suitcase stolen on the very first day of my holiday last year (before even getting to the apartment) I survived the week on an SPF lip balm, borrowed shorts and flip flops and some fresh underwear from Primark (thank god for primark) It made me realise how little you really need to pack and still be okay! Here are my summer beauty essentials all available from Boots.com (a little bit more then just knickers and a lip balm, I've got all your bases covered)

one - No one wants to be wearing a heavy foundation when there out in the heat all day, but we still want some coverage! A BB cream like this Simple Perfecting Balm is a great alternative to a foundation, as it's lighter and offers the coverage of a concealer / two - to keep our skin from getting shiny while we sunbathe (or discover those castles that are always 30 minutes up hill.. guilty) use a mattifying powder like the Rimmel Stay Matte, they also offer an extra layer of coverage without piling on more product / three - Now, if unlike me, bronzer actually works for you, this Maybelline Dream Sun is pretty fantabulous as it also has a blush so less packing space used but you get best of both worlds / four - Keep your eyes simple, you don;t want a dark smokey on the beach, the Rimmel Scandal Eyes is perfect for essentially drawing on, smudging out and your set / five - were you expecting anything less of me? The Revlon kissable balm stains are my dream summer lip product. Light, full of moisture and pigmented like hell / six - And lastly to finish off that eye look, copious licks of waterproof mascara, stop the smudging, and swim in the sea without turning panda. There's a total make-up look sorted in only six products!
Anybody else get totally overwhelmed in the travel toiletries section? There's just something about tiny products that makes you want to pile up the basket! Think about how much product you're really going to need, and if there is more of one of you going on this holiday, can you share? one - I can't go away without taking a dry shampoo, you might be wearing a summer hat and get hat hair so want to freshen it up to go out in the evening, or maybe you got up late but want to rush to that café on the beach before it gets too busy, whatever the reason, dry shampoo is the one / two - Everyone's favourite, Aussie 3 minute miracle is perfect for reviving your sea salt hair and is available in the travel section / three - I am dying to try this perfume, this is a little more of a splurge but I am a sucker for any perfume that has melon scents / four - This is a great multi use product, juicy pomegranate scented shower gel and also perfect to use to shave / five - This one is simple something I want to use myself when I go on holiday, as I mentioned, I'm a sucker for melon scents, and the oil pearls turn to foam while washing, instantly interested / six -Lastly and most importantly, sun cream! This is my favourite brand as it smells so bloody delicious, and the silk hydration helps to stop the sun drying you out /

one - You cant be without a good SPF lipbalm, and this one is mint dark chocolate, erm.. yes/ two - Depending on how long you are going to be on holiday, your skin might need a pick me up and these face masks are light and easy to pack but very beneficial, slap on a dead sea face mask and re awaken your skin/ three - It's important you don't forget to protect your face when applying SPF and this little guy is made specifically for the face, and even for under makeup / four - Lastly is a moisturising primer great for applying before a night out and generally good all day  /

Buy yourself a roll up make-up bag, pop these essentials in and your left with a ton of space for those bikinis and sandals. Check out the summer essentials section on Boots.com here. Let me know what your summer essentials are!
