we're going places

Good afternoon :) This is honestly the first day this year where I live that it has been above 12 degrees, there are no clouds, the sun is shining, and theres no breeze! Just had to buy myself a nice can of coke! Anyway, today I have a slightly different post to share with you. No wish lists or reviews, just a nice chat :) As I'm sure most of you are aware, I started my blog to run along side my YouTube channel, and have been making videos since September 2010. So I'm a bit of an old fogey. In the past year, I haven't been fully happy with my channel, because I see all these new gurus appear, who's videos are just insanely good and I want to be on par.

The main issue I have with my channel is my video quality. My little camcorder doesn't film in HD, and the video format is only really suitable for windows movie maker. I have a wonderful editing software just sat waiting to be used (that I managed to use for a few weeks when I borrowed my granddads HD camera) and really want to get back to it! Once I have that I feel like I can move on and film the videos that I have saved because I only want to upload them in a really nice quality. Also no one wants to sit and watch a washed out, out of focus girl!

Also for the past year, different partnership programs have contacted me trying to get me to sign up with them, for example StyleHaul wanted me to sign with them, and I noticed that a lot of gurus were linked with them. I felt that there were just too many girls over there and it would be just like trying to see over the heads of a hundred tall people. They also wanted to own a part of my channel which I just wasn't prepared to hand over. In the past couple weeks I have been in talks with a company that contacted me called Collective Digital Studios. You may have heard of them in YouTube land as they work with some of my favourite youtubers, Shane Dawson, Shanna Malcolm, Epicmealtime (hell yes) Toby Turner, iJustine and many others. They also have little network branches like nsquared who work with gaming channel (one of my fave thing to watch on YouTube is gameplay!) Anyway.. they contacted me interested in helping me grow my channel, not own it, tell me what to publish or pushing me.

They have a new network forming for growing beauty channels and the benefits for me are great. I can contact them about anything, from content, to camera help and they are going to help push my channel into the sights of girls who would actually want to watch instead of my channel floating in the middle of thousands of YouTube videos. After a few days researching, talking to people signed with them and thinking about what I wanted I decided to sign up. So yesterday I signed the contract (just for a year) and lets see where this takes us. You may not notice a difference for a while as I am still saving for a HD camera, but hopefully I will have one this year, and my channel will be on it's way!

I know this is a long post, but I really wanted to share this with you guys because without the people watching my videos there really wouldn't be any opportunities like this out there for me! I also wanted to let you all know right at the start so there is no confusion about my channel and what it means for it. Everything is still 100% owned and ran by me, there just like a super friendly internet family!

I think I've rambled enough for one post now, so I hope your having, or had, a lovely day in the sunshine today!
